      Hello Forums

I would appreciate your help in this reguard.

Temperature around 1 degree celcius. Dry day.

      Car details:

      2000 Acura Integra, Automatic Transmission
      300,000 km

Dead Battery – Solution: Boosting with another car.

      Problem Description:

1st Start after Timing Belt swap:

      – I boosted my integra with my second car.
      – Integra started up
      – Engine was revving up and down at neutral. RPM jumping between 1600 and 2500 at neutral.
      – 5 minutes later, I had to take the car out of the garage: put integra into drive and revving calmed down and was stable at about 1300 RPM
      – Now that the car is out, about 5 minutes later, while running, the Crank Bolt flew out! I immediately stopped the car.
      – Duration from start to stop is less than 10 minutes

Summary Of 1st Start: Revving jumping at neutral, however revving is fine when in drive. I did not install the crank bolt tight enough, so it flew out. I reinstalled the crank bolt as I see that the Woodruff Key is still in position.

      2nd Start:

      – I boost Integra she starts beautifully. I’m actually quite surprised, she sounds just like her old self. I was so shocked that I did not have time to look at the dashboard to see if there are any error codes on the dash.
      – Revving is stable
      – Car runs for about two minutes and then STOPS ALL OF A SUDDEN!

Encountered problem after 2nd Start: I try to boost integra again, but all i hear is cranking.

Oil level is fine (however oil is about 5000km old and has been sitting for 6 months. Coolant is fine.

      ——-

I haven’t had time to check if everything is at TDC yet. But I think that everything did line up correctly since the second run was smooth, up until my integra stopped all of a sudden.

Could my booster car have fried something on my integra ?

I would like to gather some people’s thoughts and which direction to take this troubleshooting.

      Thank you.

They could be related and it could be a coincidence that it died soon after.

Good news is that you lost the bolt when you did and not on the road somewhere.

Take the battery in and have it tested. My local parts store do good tests for free. They will charge it up for you too. Will have to leave it with them for a while. You can also take the alternator in and have it tested too. If they say your alternator is bad, have them test the new one before you leave the store.

Cb, he said it cranks over fine, but does not start. A battery in that case is not too likely to be the issue.

Get a new battery. running the car with a dead battery is not
good for the alternator and the electronics. Check your fuses.

I might be reading this wrong, but is this a charging issue? I get the feeling from this section

that the owner had just finished a timing belt job or had just torn the engine down for repairs.
