We have a 2007 dodge caliber and the seat belt warning light goes on and dings when she has her seat belt on! It doesn’t happen all the time but it does happen often. Where should I start?

First do like Ukrkoz said, chek connector to see if loose. my car had similar problem. I just unpluged the connector where the belt wire connects under the seat, my light went out I do not have a buzzer. The way my car is set up is when you connect the seat belt it stopped the continuity of the circuit. My problem was in the seat belt where you connect the belt latch. the latch went bad.

I haven’t checked anything yet because I don’t really drive the car. She was just starting to bitch about it more. I was in it today and it did not do it. She said she disconnected a connector under the seat once to try to stop it but it was an air bag sensor connector. Maybe I will check it out tomorrow if it ain’t raining.

Plug should be right by the latch…. May take seat cushion removal to get to it, depending on your vehicle configuration. But if under the seat harness was already messed with….

I do not recommend this but, if you follow this video you can disable it though dodge I think is only 3 times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq61UM-xAyU

As for actually fixing it. I would look inside the slit see anything fell i it first off. Second off i would see if any wires are visible and if they are are they bent or broken. Thirdly follow it down to where it mounts trace the wire and see if its bad.

Or you could just replace it. It looks to only be 30-40 bucks online. If you do this get a new mounting bolt and washer if it comes with a washer. If the bolt doesn’t come with lock tight use some blue stuff on it. It normally has a torx head on the bolt check and make sure what you need because it is not normally a hex head. Also you are going to want to make sure it is at least the proper tightness. So a torque spec and torque wrench may be needed. Remember this is what holds your wife in the car so unless you want to…. Let me rephrase that tighten it properly.
