      Good afternoon, all!

This is probably a stupid question, but I’m not gonna apologize for it just yet.

I sent a friend over to search for a video or post regarding your thoughts on basic maintenance, but we couldn’t find it. I know its there somewhere, but… maybe we’re just dense. That sort of basic thing, shouldn’t it be a sticky? IS it a stickypost and we just missed it?

I had another non-car friend come over and do the same search, but he couldn’t find it either…

      Things I thought it covered:
      1) Oil Change Intervals: How often, when, and why? Wether you agree/disagree with additives, if you agree/disagree with using a different grade oil (IE: car is rated for 5w30 but in summertime, some use 10w30).

      2) Coolant: Is it sufficient to drain the overflow and radiator and then fill, or do you recommend getting every last drop out? Also, what interval do YOU recommend? Here’s why I’m asking. Friend has a 2011 Nissan Versa, coming up on 60k service. As part of that, Nissan recommends you do a full purge of the coolant system. But the Nissan Long-Life coolant that they sell… well, even on the bottle it specs out to 105k miles. So, do it now, or no?

      3) Manual / AT / CVT fluid intervals.. etc.

Cheers, and thanks for all the hard work!

We are actually in the process of making all of my videos searchable. This will take some time however as there are over 500 of them and a page needs to be created for each video.

That said, I don’t have videos on the topics you described. One of the main reasons that I haven’t made a ‘general’ service interval video is because it can vary a great deal between vehicles and it would be almost impossible to cover each one. I have however addressed this topic in this video.

As for coolant, I’m not an advocate of flushing a system for maintenance. I also feel that a drain and refill of the radiator at regular service intervals is the best way to go. The most important part being that you purge the system of air after performing that service. If not, you can create more issues.

Now that I’ve answered your questions, this information is now searchable within the database and this post should come up. 🙂 This was always a part of the sites design to help keep up with the questions that come in. The more that gets answered, the more information is available when you do a search. It is an ever growing entity that I hope helps those that are looking for it.

Thanks for your input and suggestion.
