scraping in right rear brakes on 98 honda civic?

i recently changed my drum’s on the rear wheels on my 98 civic EX because they were rusted and brittle. scraping badly.

so i got new ones. removed the old ones and discovered rust fragments that were causing the scraping. i removed all of those, and sprayed the shoes and all with brake parts cleaner. then installed the new ones. everything went smooth, and for a couple days no scraping.

But now when im coming to a stop ill press the brake pedal and it will scrape a little. u can hear its scraping in one spot as it spins around. but ther weird part is if i press the brake just a little harder (not much) the scraping noise goes away. i’m thinking maybe my shoes need replacing but i am not sure. i wanted some feedback before i went and spent the cash. any information is helpful

If you changed the drums and not the shoes the shoes may have worn
wrong or are misadjusted. what about the brake hardware?

everything under the drum looked to be in good shape. not exactly sure what you mean by hardware. but i didnt see any noticeable damage or severe wear anywhere.

If the drums are new seems like the pad are the next logical thing to check. Doesn’t sound like anything major as long as it is braking well enough (other than that awful sound!) Pads are too worn or are not applying pressure to the drums equally enough (not aligned correctly)and are causing the noise.
