I watch his videos from time to time but I wonder if he’s really doing them because he likes making videos or because he’s taking money to sell a product?

He likes to do a lot of local news stuff and he seems to have mostly one sentence fix-its for any kind of question.

I have no issue with Scotty, but I do wish he’d shorten up his intro…

I like that guy’s videos! I like how obnoxious he is, very entertaining. He is also very smart and like Eric knows his stuff well.

I actually like Scotty’s video’s, but he doesn’t really get into a lot of detail. He does give you a pretty good idea about things, take his Expensive Car Video, I thought they were funny and I learned something about buying an expensive car, They will always be Expensive, so you better have the money to fix them…

Classiest video ever is briansmobile1 where he is pulling the engine out of a STI. Brian is trying to pull this engine and it is not happening. I have two cars and they both have pull type clutches so I knew why. The STI has a pull type clutch that has to be released before the engine is going to come out. His struggling made me cringe. Well, very embarrassing and all on film but after a little research he finally figured it out.

If I had been making this same video that mistake would have been edited. Not Brian, it is all there. That is cool.

I’ve asked Kilmer questions in the past, mainly to see if he was truly knowledgeable or just glossing over things to quickly get to the next question. I have found a little bit of both. What he does do that really irritates me is he tells people to get rid of their cars and buy something else. News flash: not everyone can afford to just go buy another car. And they aren’t gonna get much out of their current car if they can’t get it running in some cases. There are also some of us who think it’s wasteful to just abandon a car that may be repairable. We like to get as much use out of them as we can, and sometimes it’s kind of fun to see how long you can make a vehicle last by keeping it repaired. So much of the time, Scotty’s advice is “Sell it and buy a Toyota”. Why? They break down too!

I personally think Scotty is a good guy…just a bit opinionated at times which we all can be. His auto repair vids are mainly quickies for the DIY. Eric’s videos on the other hand are far more in depth and more informative. I think since most of us here watch Eric’s videos and enjoy them, we expect others to live up to Eric’s great videos at least subconsciously, so when we watch a Scotty video or the like, it’s a night and day difference to what we are accustomed to with Eric’s videos. Now, I mentioned Scotty can be opinionated…well he can come across as childish and arrogant(see the comment section of his “lifted truck” video or the “why you shouldn’t buy a luxury car”). It is certainly one thing to be opinionated, but there are certain ways to do it without coming across in a bad light.

Personally, I wouldn’t let Kilmer even touch my Weedeater and in a real shop I think he would be canned inside of a week because of so many comebacks.

One of his fixes that iced it for me was his suggestion about an AC fix on a modern car with electronics and the AC tied in with it.
Drill a hole in the evaporator case and bypass all of the electronics……

That should be a real joy even if the person doing the drilling doesn’t bore into a refrigerant line.
