I saw Eric’s scantool video with Scanner Danner. His $10,000 scanner seems like what I need for my 95 escort.
I have no c-e light except for quick flashes when car acts up,mostly at hiway speeds abt 55 mph.(I think cat or tranny)
what systems can this tool read? there are a few minor issues with this car
headlight or key in ignition chime that rings anytime a door is open
rear defogger switch that’s always lit when key is on
automatic shoulderstrap on drivers side that’s always in driving position
Will this fancy scantool read faults on these systems?
Where can I find someone with this “ouiji board”

Ha, if you really own an Escort, you should look at either getting rid of it or getting classic tags. I believe OBD-II is 96 on. I did not see the video.

The verus is supposed to be the king scanner. You can go onto snap ons website and it will tell you the specs on what modules it can or can’t talk to.

If there are codes it can read them as long as it is able to talk with the module. The nice thing is the bidirectional functions of the scanner. You may have luck just calling around to shops to see if they have one or get lucky enough a member on here having one and willing to meet up with you for some brews!

If he wants something with basic bidirectional capabilities, a mt2500 with proper cable and catridge will give him most of the limited systems available

There is a lot of things the Snap On scan tool can’t do.Some tests are done by the factory scan tool and says in the diagnostic chart.Ford is this way and getting terrible letting computer info out now.One ABS code in the Fords, shows to use the factory scan tool only testing the abs motor.GM has window switches that get programed to the vehicle, the trailblazers and Envoys which the Tech 2 has to be used and the Snap On can’t do thisThere is a cheap version of the GM Tech 2,it is good as the real deal.It is Chinese made and you don’t install upgrades in it,will crash throwing it away.

Sounds like the ignition switch might be bad. The shoulder strap motor is probably bad. You’ll need a test light to confirm. Check out a writing diagram to figure out the defrost switch.
It’s also possible that all these symptoms are caused by a bad body control module.
Did all these problems start around the same time?
When the engine light flashes, do you notice any anomalies with the engine?
