I purchased a program for my computer and bought an OBD interface that can report all live car data. I plugged it in the OBD port on my car (2004 accord 4-cyl), started it up and clicked the oxygen sensor live data tab. I immediately noticed that the car only had one oxygen sensor (Bank 1, sensor 2) streaming live data. I drove around a bit and also noted that it was reportedly running rich under load, which makes sense since it smells like it’s running rich. Puzzled, I did the same test on my other accord (2002 v6) and noticed that instead of just one oxygen sensor streaming live data, both were alternating between lean and rich, which is from what I understand a normal running condition, which makes sense because this car doesn’t stink like it’s running rich.

From what I gather, I believe that the Bank 1, sensor 1 (I believe to be upstream) oxygen sensor is faulty on the 2004 accord.

I am far from educated when it comes to computer diagnosis so any help would be awesome. If you need any more information I would be happy to supply it!

All I can say is try a scanner.. You absolutely should have B1S1 data on your vehicle… Modern computer controlled fuel injected engines cannot work properly without B1S1 info.

Additionally, if the B1S1 sensor is faulty, there should be at least a code given…

The only other thing I can think of is that your program may not be categorizing B1S1 as oxygen sensor data… It may call it “Air/Fuel” data or something else…

^ Ditto on the primary oxygen sensor being labelled air-fuel sensor.
