Just curious if you ever make runs to the salvage yards, or you just have your customers bring in/buy new parts due to time constraints
Up here in Columbus, there is a great Pick and Pull where you can get parts as cheap as any place possible and they constantly bring in fresh cars (an engine is $150 but you don’t know the condition, and you have to pull it). They are so cheap I am convinced there is a good percentage of people who go there to actually get parts to re-sell them….. Don’t know if the Queen city has a good one you prefer or go to.
Before I found this pick and pull, I always judged how good a junkyard was by how dirty and small the office was…. The dirtier, the better. The ones with polished floors that wouldn’t let you back in the yard were always the most expensive… The dirty ones that would let you back were always the best…unless they did not rotate their stock often and the cars were picked vulture-clean! 😆
Would be interested in seeing your junkyard box (if you have one), since it can be a pain to have to run back out to your vehicle because you forgot one particular tool. I try not to bring my Snap on’s into the salvage yard because it is easy to forget tools and sometimes they can get lost amongst the litter… So I made my own salvage bag/box with good tools, but ones I won’t get too upset if they get lost…
Last time I went to the salvage lot, I ended up helping 3 people because they didn’t bring the right tools and were struggling… Don’t mind helping someone out if I have the time…. Especially the ladies, who may really underestimate what it takes to get a part removed.
Maybe a video about a trip to the salvage yard and/or your junkyard box or some stories, tips or opinions about junkyard parts…
Karl!
