      Hello,

I have a problem with my Saab 9-5 2.3 2002 Aero during startup that I cant seem to figure out and would appreciate any help that I could get solving this.
At some startups, mostly cold start when I start her up the RPM needle goes up and down. It jumps between 1000-1400 for a few seconds and then settles.

When this type of startup happends the whole car is shaking and vibrating. I have OpenSID installed on my car so I can see if the car registers any missfires but it dont register any missfire.

The only code I have recieved from it is P0340 which say camshaft position sensor faulty. But my car dont have one and if I look at SAAB WIS it says the code is caused by bad spark plugs. But the plugs are brand new, correct type.

The things I have replaced is:

      DI-Casette
      Valve cover gasket
      Spark plugs
Changed most of the vacuum hoses
Cleaned the ground by the thermostat housing.

I have no more clue what to do to stop this so any help would be appreciated, really!

      Thanks!

If there really is no camshaft position sensor and the spark plugs are somehow used as sensors, you might consider mechanical and ignition timing as next directions.

According to some sources the camshaft sensor is in the DIC.

The whole thing started after I replaced the battery, forgot to mention that.
Bought a battery from the junkyard that is now dead, but replaced with a new one now.

Finding a good Saab or vw technician is very hard. From what I hear most techs just get frustrated with those brands
