s2000 03 Ebrake question

      Does anybody know how to tighten the e-brake on a s2k ? I just purchased the vehicle last month…its way different from a Ek.

      I accidently posted this,on the wrong thread.

      I know there is 7 clicks when you lift the e-brake

        What the H ? Underneath the console where exactly ? Is it where the shift boot is at ?

          He was referring to item #11. You will see the ebrake cable and adjustment nut after removing this assembly.

          Edit link did not work as expected. Once you are at the screen from this link fill-in the info on your S2000 and then go to Interior/bumper – console- item #11 on this drawing.

            Having the adjustment under the console is not uncommon, unfortunately. On the bright side, at least it doesn’t rust.

              The adjustment is under the center console, so that needs to be removed. Basically they want you to pull up 1 click on the e-brake, then tighten the adjustment nut until you feel a slight drag on the rear wheels (did I mention you have to lift the rear wheels off the ground?), then release the brake and verify no drag on the rear brakes. FYI

                The above posts are correct however before you do any adjustment make sure that the rear brakes are in good working order if not then you may actually be misadjusting them. The parking brake is part of the rear calipers on that car so if one is hanging up either due to the piston sticking or the caliper slides sticking it will cause you to have more travel at the hand brake lever. Also if you’re having trouble with the car holding on a hill with the brake it may be the pads themselves as I’ve seen cases where some brake pads will not grip the rotor enough to keep the vehicle in place. The rule is that anytime you mess with the parking brake start by making sure the rear brakes are operational first.
