rx7 v8 conversion

Has anyone done one of these? And if so what does it entail? Any suggestions on what generation? Will I need to use a specific transmission? Is a Chevy L79 327 a good power plant? Always been interested in doing this and just wanted to see how realistic it could be!

Mazda Rx7? Those are rotary engines no? I don’t think its easy switching engines in between manufacturers.
