My car is a 2003 model (9 y old that is)
      I changed spark plugs yesterday
they came off a bit rusted on the treads

      a. is it normal due to age of the car ?
      b. is there a problem

Use an anti seize compound on the threads of the plug only. How many miles are on the car and have the plugs been changed before? Also was the hood of the car ever left open for an extended period of time?

          car has 145.000 km
          sparks 20.000
          hood always closed
no humidity in the spark wells

Are they changed at 20,000km intervals or was that the last time they were changed? And was there any discoloration on the tip of the spark plug?

I would say it’s normal, you can put some oil or anti seize on the threads of the new plugs as suggested but WD-40 wont’ do you any good there as it would evaporate as soon as the engine got warm.

just a tiny bit of antisieze on the threads. don’t go crazy with it.
