Hello,
I live in Quebec Canada. I spoke with a mechanic here in 2013 and he said to avoid Mazda 3’s like the plague. He said this is the vehicle that keeps him in business and it is not uncommon to see 2006-2010 Mazda’s 3s with severe rust perforation in the body panels and entire suspension systems needing replacement after only a few years.
I also checked this website:
http://www.autonet.ca/en/2013/10/09/top-10-best-and-worst-rust-resistant-cars
and it lists Mazda 3, 5, tribute and MPV as the least-corrosion resistant makes.
Here’s some other articles:

You can also type in “Mazda 3 rust” into google images and see scores of cars eaten alive.
I see many of these cars daily and it is sad. They are nice to drive, but it obviously the corrosion testing
was not a priority during their development.
