Around September of 2018 (rough estimate) my car was shifting hard and I assumed I had a bad tranny (still think it’s possibly).
I took it to get looked at. The computer didn’t show anything strange and when they dropped the pan they said it looked normal but recommended a rebuild if it’s shifting rough ( it didn’t act up for them)
About 2 weeks later my car got really jumpy leaving work. It would lose power suddenly then go almost like it was hitting the brakes and releasing. About aile down the road I couldn’t accelerate. Pushing the petal to the floor did nothing but the car was running. But very rough. I got it going again and rushed it to my mechanic.
Hours later he called and told me there was a massive mouse nest in my air box and he had removed it and replaced the chewed up filter and it was running strong.
A few days later I drove to the rez (about 30 mins away) and was using cruise control until the rpms began to jump like they did when it died. I immediately tapped the brake to disengage and it went away. I chalked it up to maybe the computer reconfiguring now that it has proper air flow.
Today coming home from work I was using cruise and it happened again. Very subtle. B ut it happened. And went away once I turned crusie off.
I’ve used cruise control many times in between these two occurrence so I don’t know if it’s actually the crusie control acting up or if my engine is having problems.
Sorry for the long back history but I felt it may be relivent. If anyone has any ideas what could cause this I’d appreciate it.
Also: side note, idk if it’s related but now that it’s winter when it’s extremely cold my car will no blow hot air unless the car is moving. If it’s parked it only blows cold until it starts moving again. (thinking low coolant but haven’t checked yet)
Oh yeah…I have a 2009 Chevy Impala ls with 93k miles.
Thanks in advance. And again, sorry for the long post!
