while driving my rpm will randomly drop around 1k rpm, but absolutely no hesitation, at least not yet.. in the past few years I have replaced the distributor twice ( 2nd time i just replaced the insides) and the plugs have been done maybe 2 years ago. Im thinking to check the plugs first maybe? any advice? thanks. and it seems to only be doing it while at a steady speed on the highway.

If there is no hesitation then check the tach signal wire
in the distributor.I believe its a blue wire.

+1 on above post. I would get an aftermarket tachometer and connect it to the rpm output indicator on the igniter or test tachometer (if it has one). The wire to this should be blue. Then you can put the tach next to your dash and compare the two.

Thanks for the help. I originally thought something like that could be the cuase but didn’t know how or where it sent the signal.

look for bad ground’s as Honda / Acura are know that when they have a bad , dirty or loose ground to do crazy thing’s . also look for short’s and broken connecter’s .

I checke the blue wire and it looked fine and wasnt loose. Does anyone happen to know where to ground to this might be? Thought I had a diagram but can’t seem to find it.

sorry to revive this But I was having a little trouble still with this and another issue that happened today.the ground wire that I could find on the engine is tight but is super dirty. But I had problems with my car today where it would start and instantly die. eventually it started. But I was wondering if this icm in the distributer is maybe just going bad seems all the connections to it seem fine. It was replaced about 2 years ago with one from autozone. And possibly my issue I had today could just be my ignition switch, seems once I got it home and tried to start it again it just did nothing at all ( I’ve had this problem randomly for a long time just not very often) and the ignition switch was also replaced a few years ago with one from autozone.

In fact I was going to suggest that very thing. I don’t think your dropping out problem has anything to do with the distributor. Mostly those cause no start problems. Ignition switches on Honda’s go bad all the time however.
