98 windstar3.8 start cold idles fine. After warm up and I turn off the car. 5-30 min later restart the car runs rough. Like its foolded. If I rev the engine it clears the roughness and it idles fine. I’ve changed the IAC after reading on the internet that could be the problem. And it seemed to fix the problem. But it came back. Wat is causing this and how can I fix it. Donny

When you changed the IAC, did you clean its bore with a toothbrush and carb cleaner? Also, did you do the same to the back of the throttle plate and the throttle bore? If they get sooted up enough the IAC fails because the thing gets bound up trying to move in its bore. A good cleanup usually helps.

Pulled the IAC all passage look clean. Clean them anyway with carb. Cleaner. We’ll see if it fix the problem. Could gas be veporizing in the fuel rail because of warn engine compartment. Leaky fuel injector. etc. Can winter gas be the problem on a warm day 60 degree above. It only happens after driving awhile and shutting off the motor and restarting after 5-30 minutes.

In addition to injectors leaking ,FPR can leak fuel thru vacuum hose to intake. Remove hose from FPR port, run engine for a while to see if any fuel appears at port.
Clear flood mode, accelerator to floor when starting, cuts fuel for a bit to burn any excess fuel from a leaky injector/FPR.

We’ll check FPR and try what you suggested on warm restart. Thank you
