Check your pressures first._x000D_

Ha, I have this exact same problem.
July 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #463448Measure out your alternator. If he doesn’t give enough on idle with the A/C on that could be the source

I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX and recently noticed that when I turn the a/c on,July 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #463450The clicking noise could be the engaging of the compressor clutch plate being drawn in to turn the compressor then being disengaged for some reason then being engaged.
July 17, 2012 at 11:00 am #463451The compressor engaging alot is most likely due to low pressure in the system.

I agree with everyone else in making sure you have sufficient A/C charge._x000D_

A/C work is usually best left to qualified professionals with the correct equipment. You would need to evacuate the system, place it under a vacuum andJuly 20, 2012 at 11:00 am #463454It’s hard to say if it’s a problem with the compressor or the clutch at this point I think.

July 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #463456Honestly, this sounds like more of a tune-up issue to me.
July 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #463457added to if their is any CELs that might be affected by that kind of load too maybe, since it wasnt mentioned if you have any or not..
July 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #463458perhaps you are having problems with an IAC valve, its suppose to bump up the idle speed when a load is put on the engine. Try tapping the IAC with the handle of a screwdriver and see if anything changes
July 24, 2012 at 11:00 am #463459yep and the fun part there is(atleast in my case) while that range of hondas the M/T’s had the IAC on the backside of the intake while the A/T or in my case CVT i had a A6 head and the IAC was mounted underneath the intake..
July 25, 2012 at 11:00 am #463460The pressures may be normal but there may still be a problem with the compressor, if you see a lot of orange dust around the clutch this could indicate that it’s slipping.
