rough idle and random dying

      Hello i have a 1992 Mazda mx3 it has a rough idle and sometimes will die but it usually dies when i put it into neutral to come to a stop it will mostly shutter and almost die for a few seconds and come back up but other times it will die I have also noticed anytime when i am sitting traffic and crawling along it will sometimes want to die really anytime there is a change in rpms like reving it will do this but this will happen randomly somedays it will do this and others it wont I’m just at a loss here so if anyone can help i would appreciate it

        When was the last time you had your filters, plugs, wires changed?

          Well the wires look pretty new i bought the car in February so im not sure how old they are but i did have a code for a crank sensor a few months ago but thank you for the reply

            Not sure what you are going for… Two points to make here…

            – You can’t judge condition of wires by appearance.

            – A bad/going bad crank sensor (or problem in wiring) can cause performance/ignition problems…

              I know that newer Mazda cars are very sensitive to dirty throttle bodies and have cured your type of problem by cleaning them quite a few times. It might be some place to start by carefully cleaning the throttle plate and bore as well as the idle air control valve before condemning anything else. Also make sure there are no cracks or splits in the air intake hose between the air filter and the throttle body and that the clamps are tight.
