Hi Everyone,
I am looking to swap out my composite valve cover (they are known to warp) on my 1997 Saturn SC2 for an aluminum valve cover (as I am having oil leakage from that area). I have done a little research about possible compatibility in covers from earlier models (’92-’95) but am having no luck (the gasket seats-correct word?-are slightly different between the older models and mine). Would anyone have an opinion as to what route would be best to explore next? I am thinking about trying to find a brand new composite cover paired with new gaskets or maybe I can have an aluminum cover custom made? Have not looked into either of these yet.

Honestly I don’t know enough about this to provide an intelligent answer. Personally, I’d replace what’s there with what you take off but that’s just me. Perhaps someone else could provide a better answer.
I wonder if the aluminum cover from the ’92 – ’95 vintage SC2 could be modified (to fit my ’97 properly). The Al cover is readily available on eBay (for ’92-’95) and only costs $25 to $50 more than a composite cover…Aluminum seems to be the way to go since it is less likely to warp than composite materials…but proper fit is more important.
I could take some measurements of my current cover and then visit a few local salvage yards for that vintage and compare for myself…
