Ok, as i was driving my ’03 Dodge Ram 1500 earlier this evening the light bulb that shows my fuel gauge burned out and i can’t see how much fuel i have in my fuel tank. My question is this……is there a way to reach under the dash to get at the bulb without having to remove the entire instrument cluster from the dash as per the dealership says it has to be done and charging me a fortune for labor to change out a 2 dollar light bulb.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Firebird, drum brakes are a snap. I can do drum brakes all day long. The only thing you need to remember is the larger shoe goes to the rear and the smaller shoe goes to the front. don’t forget to use some white lithium or “backing plate lube” before you put the parts back onto the backing plate. there should be small flat spots where the grease goes. also put some onto the star adjuster threads.

I’ve done rears a few times, but of course never the same car twice. Just like doing serpentine belts, it’s nice to have a pic of how it looked in place. My favorite vehicle to change a serpentine belt was my old Expedition. First time I changed one on a forward facing motor, that didn’t require fishing the belt around the mechanical fan blades. Of course cars with electric fans are also easy.
Ebay is a great place roadwanderer that’s were I buy all of mine 100 dollers for shop manuals is better then 600 dollers
Hey there Antonio. Well, since i had to have the evap core replaced and the shop had the entire dash removed I thought it was a good time to replace all the dash light bulbs and heater core before they reinstalled everything since my truck has almost 300.000 miles on it. Now i can see my all of my gauges when i turn on my light switch at night. Feels good to be able to see them without using a small flashlight to see how much fuel i have in the tank lol. Also replace the horrible
Euro projection headlights with stock OEM’s. Found a pair of NEW headlights on eBay for $42.00 for the pair WITH free shipping. What a difference they make. I can actually see whats in front of me in the dark. Also found a pair of Westin step rails on Craigslist for $75.00 which im having installed by my friends at my local Meineke shop.Stuart.
