I need to replace both axles in my 97 Accord I just purchased. Both axles have torn CV boots, and are ticking anytime driven into a curve. Who makes the best aftermarket axles?

If you have a carquest or a napa that’s been around awhile (newer napa stores seem to be nothing better than autozone) in your area I would go to them if you want quality stuff. Otherwise advance, oreilly’s, autozone, etc. will all be about the same as far as quality goes.

Is there a particular brand I should look for or avoid in general?

carquest uses a lot of surtrack axles. If they use it then it’s a good brand.

Any particular brand on Rock Auto? They have several to choose from.

Cardone or Surtrack are good brands. Make sure you get the right ones (standard vs automatic trans). Also, here’s a 5% off coupon if you end up buying them from the website. 2203381920036437 Copy and paste that code in the box that says, “How did you hear about us”.

Many places sell new axles as well as rebuilt. Any new part is usually a little better than rebuilt if they are in your price range. I find that rebuilt parts for older cars have been rebuilt so many times that they usually don’t last long. Used to be that Honda CV joints were unique and not every reman. company could rebuild them but everyone seems to have them now.

Yea, I’m reading mixed reviews on the replacement China axles from about any auto parts place. Some people do fine and others are on they’re 3rd due to vibration. Raxles seem to get a pretty good review overall. Any ideal what they cost? I’m assuming cheaper than OEM?

Or buy a used OEM at a junkyard or EBay and replace the boots before I install them?
