      Hey all,

      So what jobs do you dislike to do when it comes to repair a said customers vehicle?

      The main one i am not a fan of doing is Alignments. For me, they can be very frustrating particularly living in the rust belt where 80% of the time, your reaching for the torch… Ugh.

        Know your pain buddy. We are not allowed to bring any machine from a waste facility into the shop (law). So i got stuck working on a few 973D’s for a few weeks out doors in the pissing rain. Think about what it’s like working inside one of those replacing hydraulic lines to the drive motors while garbage juice poors down you. Luckily i wore a rain suit, hard hat, rain hat, 4 pairs of nitle gloves, leather gloves, coveralls, and knee pads. So it could of been worse.
        Really sucks when you are also trying to re-install belly and stub pans and stuff starts dropping on you like crazy… wish i had a face shield that day(first job with the dealership by the way too)

        So yes, i really know your pain, but luckily i moved onto another branch where we mainly service mining equipment 777’s, 793’s and D11’s are the most common i work on… well D11’s since i am on the support side of the shop.

          I think I had been working there only a few months before they sprang one of those on me. Nobody really warned me what I was getting into besides telling me to make sure I washed it really well. Which really doesn’t help when your in the belly of the beast so to speak. The stuff falling on you while trying remove/install belly pans has got to be the best part! lol Oh well, its all part of the job. Just gotta take ’em as they come.

            Used to work for a few years at a Mack dealership. Found out the hard way they are the most popular make of cabover garbage truck on the market. Too many war stories to tell on them. But I feel your pain.

              i worked on coal hauling tandoms and riggs… out in the weather beside the road.. wherever they broke down.. i am sure that the trash units are terrible and can imagine.. but think about putting a rear in laying in the mud at about 33 degrees …. ugggg just warm enough for water not to freeze… and just cold enough to make life fun…. lol

                  when jerk customer knows what repair require and waste your time…

                  rusty warranty bucket..some job you win..some you just can’t.

                    updating control units sucks they pay nothing about .4 and can take up to two hours to complete.

                      timing belts in the pt loser,especially the turbo ones.

                        I hate replacing brake and fuel lines. I always lose money on those jobs. Maybe I’m just too fussy.

                        I’m not a fan of doing timing belts on some cars.

                        German cars sometimes drive me into another dimension of rage. Why the F*%# can’t they use wheel studs instead of bolts?

                        I really think they build cars the way they do is to drive us insane.

                              PT Cruiser is the worst…I just feel the ole blood pressure rise when I schedule one for an estimate. Seems like no matter how high I estimate the repair bill I cant make any money. The high estimate doesn’t seem to scare the owners away either.

                                  Differential oil brings back some memories.. had to do this a few times on jlg telescopic handlers. Very easy acces under one of those, but the smell isn’t nice at all. Typically left untill the end of the day.

                                  As far as i know the smell comes from sulfur additives, which are appearently needed for proper lubrication of the very high pressure contact spots on such gears systems.

                                  After that dashboard removal and exhaust work.

                                    I really, truly feel bad for you cuz I can certainly relate to ALL of the B.S. you have encountered while trying to make a living.
                                    But I have to confess that I was almost pissing myself laughing while reading your post.
