Since I refuse to do body work, and if it came in already taken apart there is no quote just straight time and however long it takes. The worst has to be anything on a PT cruiser and worse if it has turbo. Best thing to fix a PT is a rag and a match.
Engine mounts on a 1997 cat 307 excavator ok in a workshop but a pain to do in the field. even cat(finning) said it couldnt be done in the field and i can see why.
Some Dodge Caravan heater cores. You have to remove the side mirrors to unplug to pull the dash WTF.
Plastic intake gaskets gm 3.1l, 3.8l It pays well to fix but it’s an engineering failure. German cars PCV and Secondary air plastic pipes (crunch). Fords good old P0171, p0174 vacuum leaks and the Powerstroke ack! And please no Mini Coopers any repair on them is an uphill battle.
Brake lines, fuel lines, any kind of lines! Hate doing them. Also anything to do with heated seats HVAC electrical stuff (like buried temp/mode door actuators etc). Hate working on any of the korean GM’s like Aveo’s and Optra’s. Vibe’s too, at least the Vibe is a half decent car unlike the first two I mentioned. Diagnostics and manuals are horrible and warranty times SUCK on those. (3.9hrs to replace a head on an Aveo) Also not really liking the Cruze labor rates either. 0.7 hours to change a waterpump on a 1.4 turbo when you have to remove an engine mount to even get at it then take 1/2 hour to bleed the air out of the system afterwards.
For those of you who mentioned heater cores I can even take it to another level. On the new Camaro’s you have to remove the windshield to do the heater core!
I agree with Eric about the diff oil. I don’t know what it is about that stuff but its one of the most awful smells Ive ever been around.
One of the things I hate most is patching tires. Yes its simple and also easy from a physical standpoint but still it annoys the hell out of me. Also I am not much of a drum brake fan.
Dealing with an ignorant customer who wants to tell me how their car should be fixed. Even if its a job I hate doing on the car, I can hit the car with a hammer and not be in trouble.
must add the 4.6 triton in an expedition i think it is… who’s idea was it to put the spark plugs straight up where they can catch all the dirt and road grime. and with todays motors you have plenty of time to catch all kinds of that crap in there so you can not only not get to the plugs you have the privalidge i diggin all the crap out and hope you can get you socket on em
I really hate working on anything on transmissions,

The worst thing I have to do for the dealership is work on trash machines. Every few months a trash compactor or bulldozer comes in for work and the first thing we have to do, depending on the work that needs to be done, is strip off all of the body panels and access covers. Its hard to exactly define the smell that oozes from the machine but any way you slice it, its nasty. After washing it, which only removes the “loose stuff”, you get to actually work on it. On some of the larger compactors (see picture) I’ve had to, by hand, dig out some of the components. Trash is also pretty acidic so in no time the whole machine becomes a rust bucket and not a single fastener wants to come out easily. The whole time your working on it you have to wear a tyvek suit and dust mask. Did I mention that it stinks up the whole shop as well? Truly one of the worst jobs to get in my shop! :sick:
