The starter is located under the intake manifold on that car ( like the Cadillac northstar ) genius idea LOL. I would recommend getting a shop manual. most likely you will find some vids on youtube. you will need a good torque wrench for reassembly.

No, I think he’s talking about an FSM (Factory Service Manual). These are the manuals that a Lexus tech would use at the dealership. You can buy them in book form (usually a 2-3 volume set), digital copies on CD (both legit and bootleg), or some dedicated car forums have them free for download. They are much more comprehensive than anything you’ll get out of a Haynes or Chilton manual.

I had a Haynes manual for my last car as well as the FSM. The Haynes manual is written for the shade tree mechanic meaning that some things thought too difficult for the DIY owner are left out. On the other hand some things were covered in more detail and with better illustrations than what were contained in the FSM. Also, some better tips.

The FSM is written for its audience, the shop technician, and the writers expect them to already have considerable knowledge.

Anyway, I would expect a Haynes manual to have good coverage of starter removal but skip transmission overhaul.

                You might find this helpful.

I honestly don’t remember doing a starter on one of those vehicles so I can’t be much help there unfortunately.
