      Hello,
I have a 2015 Chevy Express van and I was wondering if there is a plug and play module that I can install without modifying the wiring harness in any way.
I believe all newer vehicles are equipped with this feature.
I have called the dealer and they told me to bring the van in but they did not specify what they were going to do with the vehicle.
I searched online and found that the OnStar system in the van will provide remote start BUT that comes with a monthly fee to OnStar witch I don’t need.
All I really need is to start the vehicle remotely during these upcoming New England winter mornings.
****I have been doing some research and found that remote starters have come a long way especially for newer vehicles. I have attached a link that has one of the Plug-and-Play type modules for remote start. Although the price is right and from what I can read doesn’t look too complicated to install, I am still reluctant to pull the trigger oand buy it. What do you think?

according to the manual you would need remote keyless entry. I don’t know what the dealer
would need to add, But I would go factory instead of aftermarket. Try calling another dealer
for the info or stop in to talk with someone.

I’m wondering if the remote starter is a “dealer-installed” option, or factory-installed. If it’s dealer-installed, I’d imagine it’s more likely to be a plug-and-play type of accessory which any good stereo shop or competent DIY-er should be able to handle.

Since your van is a 2015 model, you can check theGM/Chev website and check the options list and play with the “build/price your own” feature. Sometimes, dealer-installed accessories will be listed separately from factory options, or the info will be included in the option’s description.

If the remote start system is a stand-alone option, it’s probably a plug-and-play accessory, and every Express van would be pre-wired for it. If, however, the remote start system is available only as part of a larger electronics package, or it requires that one or more other electronic options be installed, there’s a chance that an accessory wiring harness (factory-installed) is required. Usually, it should be no problem for a dealer to order and install an accessory harness extension.

With your van being brand new and under warranty, I’d be inclined to let a dealership handle this installation.

If it’s an option for that vehicle you should be able to look it up. I looked it up and found it as an option for that vehicle. If you’re not getting any traction at your local dealer, perhaps try one in another city. I would think all they would need is your VIN to figure out what you need. Hopefully it can be a dealer installed option and not a factory installed option. If that was the case, you might have to go aftermarket if you wanted a remote start. I’m not a fan of those BTW.
