        Internal short? Has anyone seen a battery spontaneously explode like that before?

          🙁 I am sorry, but it is not the Battery causing the fire. A Miata battery is mounted in the trunk. I would guess it was a fuel line that broke and fell on the exhaust or the hot engine. I hope his insurance was paid up.

            After a bit of research, I agree.

            Nonetheless, it did catch on fire. I’m not sure about his insurance, but he’s okay at least. It caught after he got home and left it for a couple of minutes.
