rear struts

What does it mean if you depress a strut and it pops and leaks fluid all over everything?
Don’t say, “you need new struts”. Were they bad or are you not supposed to push them down that far? I pushed the old ones down to see how much resistance they had left in them and they blew up on me.

No…the seals are worn out. They are not supposed to leak fluid anywhere,anytime.

You need new struts. They are not suppose to leak. They should decompress the same rate as they compressed.

struts and shocks should rebound slower than they compress. Shocks / Struts are 30% compression 70% rebound generally speaking

If the struts are leaking. replace them.

actually the strut should ooze a very small amount of oil every time it is compressed to keep the shaft lubed. so a bit of dampness on the top of the strut body by the shaft is normal.
