Hello big ericthecarguy fan here. i am a little stumped though, yesterday i drove my 2000 Chevy tracker 2.0 4×4 about 100 miles all was fine until i stopped at Lowes and went to leave, i was about to pull out on the main road and my back drivers side tire started screeching and i slid sideways a little. i thought i was stuck there but i gave it a lot more gas than i usually have too and it began to creep forward then i mashed in the brake pedal and it almost went to the floor but unlocked the back wheel also, i know wtf right? i was about 25 miles from home so i crept home doing about 25 mph with the hazards on and it locked up on me 5 or 6 times between Lowes and home, but there was something about having it rolling because as soon as it would lock up i could mash the brake and it would unlock it. i haven’t had time to take the drum off yet but i’m hoping maybe a wheel cylinder or a messed up spring or something obvious i just don’t know if this would cause it to happen randomly like it is. anyways if anyone’s had this problem before i would appreciate the help im not much on drums brakes but i did have new shoes put on about a year and a half ago and it all looked good then. anyways ill quit rambling and hopefully one of you guys has had this problem before

I experienced something like that years ago with an old Volkswagen Dasher. Anybody remember that beauty? It was a brake cylinder that was failing to retract, thereby locking the wheel. A bad wheel bearing would likely be exacerbated by friction. It seems like it would have locked up while driving, not after being parked at the store if that was the problem. Also, the pedal going to the floor at times makes me think it’s possibly a cylinder issue. You’ll really only know upon inspection. Hopefully it will be something simple and obvious.
