I have a noise coming from a Ford 8.8″ rear differential. Has 80k miles on it and ive noticed a whirring coming from the rear differential while driving.
Key notes:
The noise does not change with acceleration or deceleration. No whining, clunking, chattering.. just a constant whirring noise. It does not change on turns, and there is no play in the drivetrain.
I lifted it up and took this video while running it in 4th gear up to about 60 mph.

Its definitely coming from behind the diff cover which makes me rule out axle bearings, however i have never heard a sound like this specifically. I can gladly give more details but i just wanted to get a quick idea if anyone has ever heard a noise like this before i get into more details.
Thanks in advance!
