      Hi guys,

In need of a bit of urgent help please.

I have separate springs and shocks (dampers) on the rear of my vehicle and I desperately need to replace the dampers as they’re leaking and causing some serious bouncing.

I bought a new set for a reasonable price. Everything’s there… all the rubber, washers, nuts/bolts etc.

However, when I watch Eric’s video of replacing struts…

…at 11m 20s Eric uses some vice grips to ”unlock” the damper and it springs up ready for him to compress. When he compresses the damper it comes straight back up to its fully extended position………. my new ones don’t do that.

I can pull up the shaft and push it back down (resistance in both directions) but it wont spring back up like in Eric’s video.

      Is this a problem?

      Thanks guys 🙂

If shocks are gas type they are faulty. If they are old type oil shocks then its normal.

Thanks for that. They are the gas type… just talking to the company now 🙂

Depending on the design of gas type shocks some spring up and some don’t.

              Thanks for the replies guys.

I’ve spoken to the parts store where I ordered them from and described the problem; they’re actually in agreement they’re faulty so they’ve kindly picked them up and are arranging a replacement 🙂

Well they kinda messed up. They gave me a refund without telling me. I’ve re-ordered the same parts. hopefully the new ones will spring back. if they don’t im going to assume theyre supposed to be like that, fit them and see what happens. worst ase scenario I can always put the old ones back on 🙂
