About 80% of my tools are from hf. I have some pretty good tools from them that have never let me down and I stand by them. Here is a list of some reliable tools from hf that has always worked out for me. There are more, but here is just a few:

1/2 drive and 3/8 drive breaker bars
      64 piece socket set with 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2 drive ratchets
      Their go-through socket set
      1/2 drive torque wrench
Their short and deep black impact sockets
      Their impact extension set
Their hex and torx socket set
      Their swivel set
For light to medium duty use only, their 4 piece pry bar set is good
Their 20 oz. hammer is reliable
      3 ton floor jack
      3 ton jack stands
22 piece wrench set with metric and standard sizes
Their metal (not plastic) wrench holder
A/C manifold set and vacuum pump and more.

Now here is a list of things that I can remember off the top of my head that has failed on me and I would recommend not getting. The list is short:

      Tire plug kit
Cheap socket set that cost about $4
      Wobble extension set
Their rotary set that cost about $10-$15
      The small generator
Nut and bolt assortment set with washers
      Their 6 ton bottle jack

Most of these are real cheap quality. Everything here has broken on me except the rotary set which is just useless. If you have any questions for an item not listed here, let me know and I’ll see if I can answer your question.

I personally have gotten a few things from HF, I really like the water separators they have, but I am kinda disappointed in their air tools. I got a CP Cut off tool and it just randomly locked up on me last night and wouldn’t turn. Had to take it apart and clean it out really good. I just think some of the poorly machined tolerances didnt work together very well. Not bad for a tool you dont rely on, and I guess a difference between $9 and $150 doesnt leave me any room to complain lol.

The only use I’ve ever seen for Harbor Freight is that I keep a set of their wrenches and a couple sockets around. When I’m in a spot where I need a special bend or need to take a torch to a tool to make it fit something specific out they come. I couldn’t ever use them for regular use. I pay the extra money to Snap-On and Matco. The first thing you find when you get using them is the huge amount of fasteners that don’t round off. I live in WI where everything is rusted. Anything that can unbolt rusted fasteners consistently is worth its wait in gold and is a huge time savings. Time is money. For zip ties, pipe tape, crap like that I’ll shop there. Anything else is pretty much garbage in my experience.

Absolutely agree! I was working over in a friends garage and didnt have access to my good tools as they are in my tool box at home. I rounded 3 or 4 nuts off because of cheep Chinese wrenches, they flex and bend way too easy. you have to have at least craftsman, anything less and you are just begging for trouble with wrenches.

Anyone here use Wright tools? They are American made and a fraction the price of Snap-on.To find where to buy them you have to put in your zip code and it will show you the nearest seller.Probably a safer bet to buy these then the craftsman pro tools, given how you don’t know if sears will be making these in the future.

I have used Wright before, wasn’t a fan of their ratchets, but the rest of their hand tools felt good. But since the dealer wouldn’t give me a good deal on them i didn’t buy any of their tools.
