      I hope this clears up some of the questions that have been posted to the original video. The PDF on the Type R is located at the bottom of this post.

          Eric, what about 4-cyl S-10’s? Specifically, the ones from the 90’s with the 2.2 liter 4. I’ve heard many of those trucks with their valvetrains clicking and clacking BADLY, but they run fine. This engine should, as you mentioned, have hydraulic lifters, so why so much noise? Just severe wear?

              No, its not an option. It is an aftermarket part. The are now a bit hard to find now, as a complete kit anyway. If you’re looking for a supercharger kit for your B18C/5, you can ask around to the many popular honda shops, or see if those manufacturers still exist and if they have a few BNIB kits they’re willing to sell.
              You COULD, buy an incomplete kit from a Honda forum and such, but you’ll end up doing a lot of searching to make it all work, and is generally not a good idea to buy used high-performance engine parts.

              Back then, there were companies like Jackson Racing and Comptech, among a few others that manufactured supercharger and turbocharger kits for Honda cars.

                As pointed out the supercharger was from Jackson racing and was an aftermarket install. The engine never came standard with a supercharger. The kit from Jackson was fantastic and along with a PCM to run it the car ran great.

                  The cars dont really lack low end torque in comparison to the top end…if you check a dyno out they have flat torque across the board.

                  its just a function of a small displacement engine. they just dont make a lot of torque period.

                  combined with the shorter gear ratios its plenty for a lighter car around town. Its just different if you are used to a bigger engine that can pull out of a corner at 3000rpm. You have to adjust your driving style for a high hp screamer.

                  I cant wait for this pdf. any other itr/gsr/civic Si material from back then you can provide the better 🙂

                    Is there anyway to upload the PDF to say Google Drive? It’s easier that way and it’s free.

                      Sorry I have to disagree and when the PDF comes up you’ll see what I mean as it does show the torque curve for both the GSR and Type R engines. It also substantiates my claim that a Type R engine makes the power that it does over the GSR because of the higher red line.

                                The b18c5 doesnt make more horsepower solely from a higher redline. Its not like you could make the gsr redline that high and it would make the same hp. Its torque is dropping off much more on that top end by comparison.

                                Appreciate the pdf. This feels like 2000 all over again. 🙂

                                as a side note. The 99/00 Si with a b16 had EXACTLY the same gear ratios as the ITR, but did not have an lsd.
