random stall while driving

Hello everyone im kinda new there 🙂 anyways

i’ve got a renault megane 2000 1.4 16v(a bit hard for me to start this cause i dont think you guys have many of these in the states but anyway :blink: )

Now to describe my problem
While i was driving on the road just low speed not that much i think like 2000 rpm,it just got stuck there and no response at all from the throttle,shortly after stalled. Once i stopped the car i tried to start it was just cranking. i managed to start it after a while (i think this happened in the past couple times also)

Also im having idle problems in the morning and after it sits for some time and actually i have to rev it up i order not to stall.

Have you gotten the check engine light?
don’t know if fuel or electrical. seeing the
car just shuts off.Sounds electrical. Tdc could
be at fault or a coil. Have you checked the air filter?
you will need to check fuel and spark.

I had a similar problem, that when i would drive my car would randomly shut off, but would start right back up if i turned the key to off, then to start.

I ended up having my computer replaced, and this seems to have fixed the problem.

Also check that your check engine light works, and see if it is on.

I dont see any check engine light or any other light. Im going to change oil/filters today anyway and ill see if i find something.to me this sounds more like no fuel. Gonna check spark too

Agree with Collegeman that it sound electrical. New oil/filter is good but it not your problem, in my opinion. How is it running when first starting up? Is it ideling ok? Any funny smells? Start it and let it idle at home for 30 minutes or so; does it shut off? Could be a fuel issue as well, such as fuel pump. Keep us informed.

well after changing my filters-oil (this had to be done btw) problem is still there.
rough idle when cold sometimes shuts off but if i rev a little bit then its ok but its not like a smooth idle, dont even remember it to have good idle ever.
when i drive and it shuts off then i cant start it for a while and when i crank it i can smell like gasoline that is not burned right(?). I think maybe theres water in my fuel tank or the pump is kinda junk

Try putting in some STP Gas treatment into the tank if there is gunk plugging the Pump or water in the tank that should help

You need to check the fuel pressure and compare it to specs. Sounds like the pressure is not being maintained and may be low.

Well after observing it for these days i think i can call this fixed.
Noticed that this would happen when my fuel level was getting low so i suspected that there was water inside,so i let my fuel get low and i empted the tank.i can say that there was almost pure water in there!
Didnt happen again for 2 days or so,i think that was it.
As for the idle, eeh i think i’ll just leave it alone, it was always like that, not worried too much about that.
