Hey guys, its once again my 2000 ford fiesta.
I have a random wheel vibration from the passenger side of it (sorry – left hand side, as its a right hand drive!)
Firstly i thought its something to do with the brake caliper, maybe it was sticking etc but i have discovered it is definitely one or both of the rear wheels. On the way to college this morning, i lifted the handbrake while driving but only enough for you to feel it was biting the drums and the vibration stopped completely until i fully released the handbrake again.
I have checked the wheel bearings, bushes, subframe, brake drum and shoes, and the axle stud fitting itself and all is good and nothing is obvious or loose. I have checked and all four wheels are balanced, i had them on the balancing machine just today to eliminate that.
As i say its a random wheel vibration. It doesnt happen if i turn a specific way or do a specific speed or even accelerating or not, it happens totally at its own will! The left hand rear brake does seem to be adjusted more so then the other side but the shoes are fully self adjusting so im not sure where i can adjust that, if at all, if indeed that is the cause.
(random image of when i changed the brake shoes, incase someone can point out a manually adjustable route i can take? p.s it explains what i mean when i say the axle stud itself where the bearing sits)
