What did you do to make the world better today?
Today after work I was getting a burger from the local Lions club brat fry and there were some people with a flat tire on a Jeep. They were having problems keeping the Jeep on the jack (they were parked on a slope). They had the old tire off and couldn’t get the Jeep up enough to get the spare on, I asked if they needed help and I was told of the situation. So I put the flat tire behind the rear tire had them jack up the Jeep until it was rocking on the jack I let the air out of the spare and got it on, tightened it down, let the jack down torqued the nuts. All they needed to do was go a hundred feet to the gas station and air the tire back up. They were so grateful they tried to give me money but I told them no and have a good weekend then left.

This story is a shining example of what Ericthecarguy is all about. you used your mechanical knowledge and problem solving skills to make someones day better. imagine what a great world we would live in if everyone had the same mindset as you. I salute you !
I learned many years ago that someone else’s car problem on the side of the road or in a parking lot could be my problem tomorrow. If someone needs a boost and I have the time (most of the time I do) I’ll help them and never accept any money. Too many people don’t want to take 10 or 15 minutes out of their day to help a stranger. And forget getting help from folks who drive fancy new vehicles! The person with the “average” car or even a clunker will usually be the one who tries to help. Good job by the way for helping those folks. I have equated that before in conversations to when I delivered pizza in college years ago: I could forget getting a tip from the fanciest, most expensive homes. Most of them seemed to act like I should be thankful they ordered a pizza. My tips 95% of the time came from the modest or even run-down homes. I suppose those folks realize what it’s like to work a low-paying service job.
This has happened to me a couple of times were, I would walk out of a store and someone would have a flat or something like that. After helping them they would try to give me money, but I told them no. What I told them instead was to help someone else out if they need help and to spread the kindness. 🙂 Good job, I would like to see other people be as helpful.

So just a link below.That was an absolutley buaetiful video RussianAccord. It made me realize how even the smallest things you do can change somebodys day in a good way. Reminds me of a time when I was a kid, me and my dad were just driving around while visiting Portugal. We come across this old lady who was too afraid to cross the street and my dad who was the type of person who never has a smile on his face and seems like he doesnt care about anything actually gets out of the car and helps the old lady cross the street. It took him like five seconds but it made us feel so good. Thanks for sharing!
Many years ago I stopped to give someone a boost. It was late….actually early in the morning and it was extremely cold out. With a boost we were able to start the car and he thanked me. As i walked away he grabbed me by the coat and threw me head first into a snow bank.
For a long time i was reluctant to help anyone but my nature has overcome that.
i havnt done it yet, promised myself to buy eric 2 car ramps when i win the lottery hes a genuine guy, and deserves it.
did a fuel pressure regulator on a 95 lumina this morning for a neighbor. call it a father’s day gift.

That reminds of a local story on the new a couple years ago.. A 60 yrs old man, was broken down infront of the Birmingham city court house. He was under the hood try to fix it when a punk in his twenty came behind him & tried to rob the older man with a gun. The older MAN turn around & beat the stuffing out of him.
Unfortually you have to be so careful now days. I’ve stop many times to help, but I always watch my back. I’m glad to see there still good people out there.Last Sunday I went into Wal-Mart around 8pm. I noticed a guy on the corner with a guitar, some sort of drum pedal and drum. He had no shirt, was wearing old raggity sweat pants and had a beard jesus would be jealous of. I had no cash on me, but when I drove by a second time on the way out I saw the look of helplessness in his eyes so I drove about a mile to a gas station and withdrew 20 dollars from my account. I drove back to Wal-Mart and handed the guy the $20 bill, he thanked me and I nodded my head and told him to take care of himself (not in a cynical way).
