Can’t tell ya why the radio specifically resets, but your battery voltage seems low. Here’s Eric’s vid on alternator diagnosis, if it checks out ok and your cables are clean and tight, it’s probably time for a new battery.
sounds like your battery is weak. have the battery and alternator load tested at an auto part store.the voltage must be dropping
to low causing the radio to reset. check that your battery terminals are clean and tight. C8-)
Do you think it can be wires issue? This never happen before just this week. Should I do a parasite draw on eric the car guy video. Alternator is charing at 13.9 to 14.0 volts.
I have a 2000 sienna and I measured 11.6v (not running) with headlights on and 12.3v the dome light on because it stays on for a few minutes after I shut the door. But thebattery reads 12.6v with no load. I forgot what the voltage was with the van running. My battery is brand new. I suspect you have a parasitc draw running your battery down. The draw test is easy enough to do so there’s no reason not to do it.
I would definitely have the alternator and battery load tested as suggested above. Make sure all your connections are tight and clean. Also check your fuses for the alternator (if it has one) and your belt tension.
I did some testing today. When I turn off the radio and start the car. THe radio does not reset. When I turn on the car with the radio on it resets. I notice the interior dome lights flicker. I know its not a battery issue now. Its a wiring or something is broken. Do you know where I can start?
The alarm in the car is aftermarket. Everything else even parts is all from Toyota. BTW, the battery just died. I will start with a new battery. Then do a parasitis test and hopefully the battery will solve the problem. Will update you? I have school finals this week. After finals I will let you know.
Thank you
I would have the battery charged and tested. I think Autozone will still do this for free, or at least they would the last time a checked.. That way, you don’t put a new battery in a car with a parasitic draw that could kill a new battery.
I think the problems will go away after you replace the battery, low voltage can cause all kinds of electrical issues and the battery is the heart of the system, if the battery is bad it will cause problems throughout the electrical system.
