sounds like you may have a block somewhere in your radiator system or a problem with your water pump make sure you belts are tight. have you done a pressure test or a leak down. also have you replaced your res because if you have sometimes the new ones you have to drill a return hole on it it comes sealed for some reason just an idea.

            Hi patron_silver,
Does the radiator cooling fan(s) work? If the radiator fan(s) have stopped working, the temperature of the coolant would rise, and thus so would the pressure. This would help explain why the vehicle overheats when at a stop, but is OK during motion. Keep us posted.

The purpose of the reservoir is to catch the coolant that the radiator cap purges in a high pressure situation. As the system reaches a specified pressure the cap opens allowing coolant to escape lowering system pressure. As the car cools down it allows coolant to back fill into the radiator. Was the cap you put on OE? I have seen aftermarket caps fail soon after install. It sounds like the system achieves high pressure (which is good) but the cap remains open too long.

This may be off the wall, but is the cooling fan blowing air in the correct direction. Air should be drawn from outside the vehicle in.

I’ve actually done a video on this. To me it sounds like your fan is not working properly but make sure you bleed the system first, here are some links for you.
