The mechanic who changed my timing belt and water pump told me to replace the radiator cap, flush the radiator because he said it is clogged and replace the driver’s side radiator fan since it was dead. I replaced the radiator cap myself and had an electrical guy replace the radiator fan. Since it was still getting a little hot I am now doing the radiator flush myself and about two hours into the six hour process.

      1. If it is still getting a little hot after I have done this radiator flush what should I do next? The guy who did my water pump said the thermostat is working. There are no signs that the head gasket is bad.

      2. I have noticed a lot of oil around the engine and it was recommended that I change the valve cover gasket. Should I begin here to try and stop some of the oil leak?

[color=orange]If the vehicle is still getting hot after a good flushing, First check that the hose are not collapsing when at temperature.
Next would be to check for air flow blockage from debris.
If they show good you may need to replace the radiator due to an internal blockage.

[color=orange]I might recommend first cleaning the engine and locate what exactly is leaking oil before starting to replace parts in hopes it will cure the issue.
This will also help when the time comes to work on the engine.
Better to work on a clean motor than a gunked up one.
