Hi Guys, I have here a 1993 Honda Accord Wagon. The problem is that the car was in a front collision and is now repaired, but when the front was pushed right in, it was driven home from the accident but the fans were jammed and blew the fuse under the hood. I replaced the fuse after I repaired all the panel work but the fans wont work at all. I have done a few tests and it looks like it could be leaning towards the Fan Control Unit. Only issue is i have no idea where you find it!! Does any body have any ideas where I can find this, or ideas on what could be the issue here. Also to add it has new fans which I tested and they work fine. I even plugged the old fans in and they dont work either.

Hope someone has some knowledge on this. Cheers

Hi college man, just to update you. I have started the car and let it fully warm up and I can confirm the fans do come on, both together like they should. So we can rule that side of things out. However they are still not coming on with the A/C.

ok then that changes things. that does run threw the cooling
fan timer.which is either under your seat or under the drivers
side under the dash. there are fuses there that I can see. no.8
          no.2

Sorry for the late reply, just had to pop out. Yeah I saw those fuses as well, and checked them out and they appear to be ok.

If there is not enough pressure in the AC system the AC won’t work and the fans won’t run. You might check the pressure in the AC system to see if there is enough to run the system. I’m sure you would have had to repair the system due to the front end collision. Perhaps it was never filled up again after the repair or was not properly repaired to begin with. Also it’s imperative that you bleed the air out of the cooling system for proper cooling fan operation. Since the system was opened when it was repaired you need to make sure the air was bled out, if not it will cause issues with the cooling system.

Hi Eric, Thanks for your reply. I thought it might have something to do with the pressure. I did all the repairs and panel beating myself so when I disconnected the old AC Radiator it released the remaining gas. I am still yet to send it in to re-gas it. I definitely know the Coolant is ok too as I bleed it when I re-filled the system so we are able to rule it out. Thanks for you answer as that concludes the AC system. I’ll let you know when I get it filled. Thanks!!

ok guys, here is the deal… Now that we have sorted out my car, believe it or not another car EXACTLY the same as mine has been brought to me with the complete reverse problem to mine.. So instead of being the Temperature side working and the AC Not Triggering the fans, its now the other way around. The AC is good in the car that has been brought to me, therefore the fans do turn on when you press the AC Button. But driving the fans do not come on when the engine is hot therefore when if left idling it will eventually start to rise on the temp gauge.. I have tried everything even shorting the plug which goes on the heat switch by the thermostat and that didnt even work, which shows its not getting through the timer unit. Any help on this side would be greatful. I have checked all fuses and relays and all appear perfect.

Since this is a different vehicle with a different problem it would probably be best to create a new post. If you would not mind doing that I’d be happy to offer suggestions. This way we can keep this thread to it’s conclusion and address the other problems with the ‘new’ car separately.
