These actuator failures are very common here is a video for a similar code but the diagnostics/system verification are the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B7HrBN2tvY. It should be noted that one of the first things your should check is oil viscosity and level. Also Measure the resistance of each CMP actuator solenoid valve assembly. Resistance should be between 8–12 ohms.

            As seen in the video:
I think why the manufacture wants you to do a diagnosis with a fused jumper on one of the test is for the integrity of the circuit under pressure. (Full voltage/amperage). Bias voltage is not voltage under pressure which you could get with a frayed wire or a bad connection.

I agree bias voltage should be a check/diagnosis for ECM/PCM output.

In my opinion, Scanner Danner classes should be a prerequisite for every Automotive Technician to attend.

Thank you MotionlessClock for the video….

there was a TSB for this a while back for trailblazers. Pretty much the exact same issue. The fix was to get your ECU flashed/updated by the dealer

you can go to http://www.bbbind.com and look to see if there are any TSBs like this for your car. Beyond that I would plan on a trip to the dealer for some diagnostics unless you know of a local shop with a high dollar scanner (and someone there that knows how to use it).

Given that your oil is low, I would start with that. My research indicates that to be a known issue that can cause that code. Before you go replacing anymore parts at least top off the oil and recheck for the problem.

                    Keep us posted.
