      Hi All!

I am a long time watcher but after watching the last live questions on you tube I wanted to ask a question. Eric was asked about turbo engines.

My wife has been wanting a new car and she likes the 2014 Chevy Malibu. She has been looking at LTZ models but I am concerned about getting a car with a turbo engine.

I am concerned that a Turbo engine might not make 200,000 miles as my natural aspired engines have.

I would just get the 2.5 base engine but I am not a fan of the stop start and I am used to v6 engines so I would rather have the extra hp of the turbo engine.

If properly maintained the turbo engine in that Malibu will last you just as long as any other engine.

The thing people don’t really look at as if you are only driving the car, versus you are making payment and want to stretch as much kilometer for you buck is sample.

A turbo engine requires oil to function properly, being said if you would give if a nice run prior to come home, you will need to wait couple of minute to get the oil to go back to respectable temperature before shutting it off. Example you race your way back to home and just shut the key off and walk inside. Some people has that habit as nobody told them about (the dealer, owner manual, entourage).

My father in law bought a chevrolet trax. It serve their purpose as he wasn’t the main driver but his couple are really maintenance oriented, he is not impress so far with fuel mileage I will tell you. Might turn out to be only that particular model but those new engineering design will change vehicle in weight and look as they are getting smaller, but we are in a grey window as now customer should look at their option : diesel, gasoline, electric, hybrid electric, hybrid diesel.

Being said now engineer will reduce engine size (1.5 over 2.0liter for instance) but then add a turbo to please the engine when asking for power. so now you have the best of both world from a engineer point of view. Now it’s just a matter is the car is made to last and is well tune from the engineer.

I got bad reviews from the newer escape and that chevrolet trax. I’m not bashing their names down, as ford is selling those one like hotdog, they have some really nice other feature that may compromise the fact they are a bit more $$$ at the gas pump.

If I’m purchasing a new vehicle. I’m expecting to do more mileage with the same fuel tank size. Now they reduce the tank size and hope that the hook will bit with their commercial venting that they are the most economic vehicle.

Ending 😉 You will see more and more of those turbo coming on the market and should totally consider it. You have to do your homework on owner care and make sure you stick with one brand over another as it might turn out the engine expected life is inferior than expected.

          Have a Nice weekend
