I have just installed a set of H&R Touring Cup coil overs on my 96 Honda Accord. The car is currently sitting on the ground. All OEM torques are now done except for the top of the coil over.

The OEM torque for the top rod bolt was 22 foot pounds. The directions with the set do not give a torque, so does 22 foot pounds sound right for the new install? Also, I assume I torque the lower bolt and then the upper is just a safety bolt?

When I try to tighten the bolt, the rod feels like it is turning. Do I need to take the tire off and grab the rod somewhere low to hold while I torque?

One last question, the white dial says “firm”. Does it also adjust ride height? 😳

Sorry for the basic questions, but this is my first coilover install. As always, your advice is greatly appreciated.

Follow the OE torque 22 ft pounds. Try torquing both nuts
together. If it still spins. Get a crows foot and hold the
upper shaft above the upper nut with a wrench or adjustable
wrench. Try sears if thats convenient for you. The firm is
most likely ride stiffness not ride height.
