94 Dakota 3.9L 147+K miles it had 142K miles when I got it.
I got this thing just over two years ago. It had an EGR code so I replaced it. I have done a lot of work on it since and it has never set a code. Last month It set an EGR code I cleaned it and the Check Engine light came on again a couple days later so I replaced it. I have no idea if that span of time is normal for it to wear out or not. Now with the new one on the check engine light came on and its an EGR code. ?! I sprayed the holes on the intake and brushed off the mounting surface until it was shiny. IDK if there is anything else I should have done. I don’t have any vacuum leaks all the sensors are new since I bought it and the exhaust is new from the manifold back.
I’d like to be able to figure out 1.) If that 2+ years is normal for them to wear out and 2.) what exactly is going wrong to set the code?
Thank YouEdit
The work I did was a new plenum kit, all new sensors in the intake, timing chain, WP, new exhaust, and trans rebuild and the usual tune up parts.
