This one has me pretty stumped. Heres the situation I picked up a 02 ford ranger with the 3.0 with a miss fire. After a compression test cyl 2 had nothing even after I put some oil in the cyl so I pulled off the valve cover figuring it had to be in the head. Once inside I see the push rod just sitting there (don’t remember if it was intake or exhaust) I figured the push rod broke or the lifter blew up but after pulling the intake everything looks good. Pushrod is strait lifter is still in the block and the rocker arm is fine. Anyone have any ideas on how this happened an how to prevent it happening again. Also it doesn’t appear that anyone has been inside the motor for some time so I don’t think it was someone’s mistake
