I have a 2001 Acura TL and I would like to know if anyone or Eric has a recommendation of getting parts for this vehicle aside from dealerships. I have the owners manual and service manuals and they recommend to used Acura Parts. The next major service is replacing the timing belt and its components but I do not know where to get quality parts that meet or exceed Acura standards but without the dealership’s price.

Also on non-related issue, I am interested on using air tools and I do not have a clue about specifications. Simply put I need an air compressor, a hose and the air impact gun, wrachet, etc. However, there are so many choices out there and something tells me it is not just that simple. I do not want to waste money on getting something that will not be sufficient or that I will have to replace often. Besides that I have limited funds for this project.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

      Thank you!

@ Edgar, I purchased my OEM Timing Belt Kit complete with tensioner from a Honda dealer on EBay, think it was around $230 with shipping. If I didn’t opt to swap my tensioner out it would’ve been $150. Check out seller keenahonda on there. Other than them I use Amazon and Majestic Honda as my got to places. Majestic will certainly have the cheapest prices around and they are a dealership as well. Just shop around between those 3 and you’ll be good to go.

As for your air tools, I’d look into Craiglist or the like and save a few bucks!

You may also see if you have a honda or acura dealer participating in a car related forum in your state or area. Some of them who support the forum may also give discounts or free shipping.

It’s also worth mentioning that Rock Auto has a good selection. A lot of time they have NOS (New Old Stock) OEM parts.

I needed wheel sensors for my 08 Caravan. Rock Auto had them in stock and the price was right. They were advertised as Airtex brand. When they came they were in a Mopar box with an Airtex sticker covering the Mopar logo, you could see the logo through the sticker. The fonts and all the print on the part matched the old part perfectly. There were marks on the connectors that matched and would typically not be on an aftermarket part.

A company called Gates makes good aftermarket belts and belt accessories and a lot of the times is the supplier for OEM. I have literally installed hundreds of Gates products. This would be a good alternative to OEM.

I also use Gates products and if you have an issue with an ADP pulley on an alternator Gates are the only ones I use even now there are Chinese knock offs for half the price.
