2006 PT Cruiser Turbo, 4-speed automatic (Chrysler 41TE)
Transmission was replaced in December 2017 with remanufactured unit including new Transmission Control Module and input/output sensors.
TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) was replaced one month ago with a new unit.
Powertrain Control Module was replaced at a Chrysler dealership three years ago with a new unit.Symptoms:
– When in Drive, will not shift from first gear. All other driving modes normal. The following codes were pulled:
– P0700: Transmission Control System (MIL Request)
– P0218: Transmission Fluid Over Temperature Condition
– P0714: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent
– P0882: Transmission Control Module Power Input Signal LowI can clear the codes and get one perfectly normal drive cycle out of the vehicle, but the next time I start it, the exact same thing happens. This has happened four or five times since the whole mess started over a month ago. (Yes, I paid for a brand new TIPM which didn’t solve the problem.)
The only thing any of the shops around here want to do is start replacing computer modules for $900-$1,500 a pop. Given the age of the currently installed modules, I think that’s a red herring.
Is there a sensor/connector which could be the problem? It sure looks to me like an electrical problem, not a computer problem, but I am no expert.
Suggestions, please. I am stuck with this car until I get a new job. And that will be a while.
Thanks in advance.
