So i’ve lost my favorite screwdriver that i used as a prybar to get those crappy plastic push clips out of undertrays on Jap cars. None of my other flat blades fit as there too thick, so before replacing it i was wondering what tools/contraptions people recommend getting them out with, i’m thinking of trying a small snap on prybar

This type of thing, many brands make the identical sets of pliers: http://www.amazon.com/GearWrench-41840D-Piece-Push-Pliers/dp/B0012S61AM
You only need the straighter pair if you had to pick one, but the right angle comes in handy.

        And this tool: https://store.snapon.com/Product-Details-ASG186BR-P646368.aspx
That one has a really thin edge, but it’s really strong. You can use it for light metal prying, and the edge will get into those PITA belly pan clips that have the plastic Phillips head screw that is usually seized and pry it out.

Mayhew Pro 31000 Upholstery Clip Set

Anytime I get anything for prying I go straight for Mayhew brand. As you see all of these things are pretty much all the same. Mayhew in my opinion makes the best prying instruments. I have yet to break one and abuse the hell out of their actual prybars every day.

As for actual pry bars not for your current application I suggest Craftsman – Rebranded Mayhew 3pc Pry Bar Set or Mayhew 3pc Prybar Set. Be aware the Craftsman since they are professional only carry a 1-2yr warranty unless otherwise marked. Where the Mayhew version carries lifetime. The Craftsman is a little more ergonomic. Both sets do not like brake clean on the soft grip though.

Also for Lady Slipper Head Pry Bars Mayhew is the only brand I will buy. Snap-On and almost all the major brands you will snap the foot off the bar because it is normally friction welded. The Mayhews are all one piece forged. It makes a huge difference in the ability to have a sharp edge on the foot, the strength of the bar itself, and the strength of the foot not to break.

              Thanks for the suggestions guys,

Unfortunately we don’t get sk or craftsman tools in Australia, we have our own cheapy brands like sidchrome or kincrome which for most things leave alot to be desired, but because i’m pretty brutal on my screwdrivers kincrome are the way to go, and Fopeano i have that snappy trim tool, and on my personal on the edge is a little think i reckon i’ve been tempted to grind it down a bit but hate the thought of slipping.. May look into those gear wrench pliers though masters usually stock a few or gear wrenches stuff which here at least is crazy expensive!

Honda has a specialty tool, aka specifically designed pliers. They’re the same idea as the Gearwrench pliers, but one set of jaws is on the businees end and the other is at the end of the handle. I honestly can’t tell you what the P/N is right now, but I can find out. I should probably actually order a pair, they’re only about $20 CAD.

I honestly usually just use my right angle pick and rip the things out like bad teeth.
