What is the fuel pressure when it runs and then when it cuts out? Can you hear the pump running when you go from start to on? Can you verify you have power to the ignition system with the key ‘on’?

Do you have access to wiring diagrams as well as a DVOM?

I would be checking fuel pressure as already stated as well as making sure the engine is in time.

Did you try to wiggle the key in the cylinder or check the electrical portion of the ignition switch?

              Quoted From Grease Monkey:

I have a 96′ civic with h23 swap. I recently did the swap and the car cranks and starts but once i let go of the key it shuts off right away. Can anyone help me with this??? any suggestions or advice would help.

So, once you let go of the key, and then the engine shuts off, do you mean that the car starts, and after you release the key from the start position to the run position, the car then dies? I would look at an ignition switch with a good wiring diagram. I have heard Eric mention that the ignition switches in Hondas were known problems.

If it shuts off immediately after you let go of the key check the electrical portion of the ignition switch which is located on the back of the mechanical portion. These go bad all the time and cause this problem and are not that expensive or difficult to replace and you can sometimes diagnose them either by jiggling the key while the engine is running, if the engine shuts off replace the switch. You can also sometimes see melted solder on the lower steering wheel cover after you drop it down, if you see this replace the switch.
