I’ve just replaced the u-joints in my rear driveshaft with Moog greasables, but I’m having trouble greasing them. I think I may have the wrong sort of nozzle on my grease gun.

The grease fitting on the u-joints looks like this…

And the nozzle on my gun looks like this…

The nozzle fits over the fitting, but as soon as I pump, the grease splurts out from under the nozzle as if the joint is already full of grease (which it isn’t). Do I need to get a “needle fitting” for the gun?

You have the wrong nozzle for those fittings.

Stop at the auto part store and pick up some regular grease
          fittings and change those out.

There is an adapter that looks like a big needle that adapts to the fitting in the pic. You might be able to change them to a regular fitting but you might not still be able to get grease into them.

You should be able to purchase the adapter from any auto parts store.
