I have a 03 acura tl and having window issues from the driverside switches. All other windows work with their individual switches but not on the main driverside(d/s) switches. I have replaced the d/s main switches and it did not fix the issue. Is this a window relay issue from the d/s and how can i go about fixing this. I hate having to reach over to each window just to roll them up/down. Much help is appreciated!

using a test light or multimeter check for 12 v at the green and white wires while you activate the switch
May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452324I just remembered that Eric just made a video where he troubleshoots a power window electrically. I can’t seem to post the link on my phone but if you click on VIDEOS above then select the ELECTRICAL sub category you will see it.

+1 with looking at a wiring diagram. I would be checking my feeds and grounds.
Keep us posted!
May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452315I dont claim to know much of anything about power windows but you could try swapping the relay with a known good one and test to see if they work then
May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452316Do you have a wiring diagram? It would help. But it does sound like a wiring issue. Maybe where the wires are flexed in the driver’s side?
May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452317verify that you are in fact getting voltage to the switch assembly with the button pushed down
May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452318All great post’s above.
You really do need a wiring diagram.May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452319normally there is no window relay. the switch directs the power to the window
motor. check for 12v in the up and down position. also check the window regulator
for broken parts or bindingMay 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452320Quoted From college man:

for broken parts or bindingI have a voltmeter but can u let me know how exactly i would check for that?
also there is no broken parts that i see and i do not have a wiring diagram. If in fact there is no power in the up/down position what would be my next step?
Again thank u all for your input!
May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452321without a print.the the only way I can tell you is unplug right at the
window motor and check for 12v dc. you should get it in the up and
down position. but once again with out a print I can’t tell you what
wires to test. heres a link for a wiring diagramMay 31, 2012 at 11:00 am #452322Ok I’ll have to check the diagram out. If I already switched out the whole master switch assembly do I still need check for power or does that basically tell me there is a power issue. The only switch that works is the d/s switch. Going back to what twiggy was saying about wires being flexed what can I do to check that as well?

ok I have looked on youtube but have not found anything specific to my issue. I have checked the wiring diagram on the bbbind site and they have one for the 04 acura TL. I’m going to assume its similiar but I still cant figure out where exactly to look. Again the switches on the d/s do not work except the d/s switch. All other windows and their individual switches work.
The pw repair video in the electronics section helps a little bit but the chevy cavaliar and the acura tl have window switches in different spots. My acura has the window switches in th d/s door whereas the video shows switches in the middle console almost like BMW’s.
June 1, 2012 at 11:00 am #452327just pop out the switch and use a testlight to see if you have voltage at the wires while you push down on the button (key on of course)

ok I’ll try that when I get off work today.
2 possible things that could happen:
1. Let’s say that I am getting voltage to the 3 non working switches on the d/s controls what would be my next thing to test/check?
2. What if there is no voltage to the 3 non working switches on the d/s controls what would be by my next thing to test/check?
June 1, 2012 at 11:00 am #452329first off i think i forgot to ask, do ANY of the drivers side switches work? Can you roll down any of the windows using the drivers side switches, including the drivers side window?
